Surgery time

Our little Kate had eye surgery on Friday morning as planned. This surgery was performed to correct misalignment or crossing of the eyes and will prevent the brain from discontinuing communication with one of her eyes. It was an outpatient surgery, so Kate was thankfully allowed home that afternoon.

For various different reasons, we elected to just have Joel go with her to have this surgery done. Since Kate wasn’t allowed to eat anything from 10:00 the previous evening until after the surgery, the hospital scheduled the surgery for an early hour. They had to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM and the surgery took place around 7:15 AM.

Here’s Kate prior to surgery.

Here is our little girl in the recovery room after the surgery was completed.  Kate was really tired from the anesthesia and her eyes were a little swollen and sensitive to light.

In order for Kate to be released from the hospital, they had to get her to drink some liquids.

The entire time I was waiting anxiously to hear news of how Kate was doing…I had a hard time not wanting to hop in the car and fly to the hospital to cuddle our little girl! I was very emotional, and had a hard time waiting.

I knew that she was in the very capable and caring hands of her Daddy, (who, I should note, took excellent care of her!) but it was still hard to be away from Kate while she was going through pain.

It was at these times that I had to remember passages in scripture, just to keep calm and know that God was taking care of Kate.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, therefore will not we fear...” Psalm 46: 1 & 2

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage , and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait , I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27: 14
