6 wonderful years…

Our 6 year anniversary was on Saturday. We celebrated our anniversary the weekend before, and thanks to Sherry, we were able to spend a wonderful evening out in Sioux Falls without all of the kids. We took Tyler with us, but he was a champ the entire time!

We shopped around for a few items to donate to the Grade School Fall Bazaar, and ran a couple of other errands. We had planned to use a gift card and eat at the Texas Roadhouse, but when we drove up, it was so packed that people were lined up outside of the restaurant doors! It was already almost 8:00 at that time, so we decided waiting almost an hour just to get inside wasn’t worth it. We decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants, Old Chicago Pizza. We were really glad we didn’t wait at Texas Roadhouse, because when we got to Old Chicago, we were seated right away, and as always, the food was delish!

On our actual anniversary, Joel shot clays with Caleb, a friend from church, for a while in the afternoon. Other than that, we just worked around the house, and did typical Saturday things. We ordered some food from a small local restaurant for supper and ate it at home. While we were around the table eating, Joel all of the sudden commented, “we were officially married at this time, six years ago”. I glanced up at the clock and it said 6:21 P.M.  Just that comment brought me back to when Aunt Hedy walked through the line to congratulate and hug us after our wedding ceremony was over. “6:21” she said….”that’s when you were pronounced husband and wife”. I sat there reminiscing about that day for a while, and comparing it to what the current day was like. I pondered about all the changes that have occurred and I just had to think, even though life has gotten pretty busy, I am so incredibly blessed, and so thoroughly thankful.

When I married Joel, I knew I loved him, but that love was nothing compared to what it is today. We have been through a lot together and I can honestly say that he is my absolute best friend on this earth.

Happy Anniversary, Joel!

On Friday night, Joel came home from work and surprised me with a beautiful flower arrangement, and I made him a cheesecake topped with strawberries that afternoon(one of Joel’s favorite desserts).
